My favorite cover of "Light My Fire" will always be by The Residents, available on "The Third Reich & Roll". They basically take the song, disembowel it and leave it for dead.
Nice! But I wouldn't call this the definitive collection. There are dozens of other versions. I pote one of them on my blog last week!
Jackie Wilson and Erma Franklin versions are pretty dope !
